| April 2010: The Eighth Circuit affirmed a directed verdict obtained by Todd Johnson in a premises liability case on behalf of a national retail client. February 2010: Tanya Rodecker Wendt joined the firm as an Associate. Tanya practices in the areas of personal injury, construction and business litigation. She is licensed to practice in Missouri and Kansas. January 2010: Nick Porto obtained a favorable verdict in a jury trial where the plaintiff sought damages in excess of $600,000 for injuries sustained by a young girl in an ATV accident. The jury awarded damages of less than $25,000 against the Firm's client. December 2009: Clay Fielder obtained a defense verdict in a subrogation case in which the plaintiff alleged damage to its insured's property. November 2009: Todd Johnson and Nick Porto resolved a civil rights claim where an individual sustained serious personal injuries from the use of a TASER in an incident involving the Columbia, Missouri Police Department. August 2009: Randy Schroer was admitted to the Iowa bar. Our firm now provides representation to workers' compensation clients throughout Missouri, Kansas, Illinois and Iowa. July 2009: Nick Porto obtained a jury verdict in favor of a client in Platte County, Missouri. The case was filed under the Missouri Human Rights Act and alleged that the City of Riverside retaliated against an employee for complaining of racial discrimination. July 2009: Todd Johnson was selected for inclusion in the "Best of the Bar" by the Kansas City Business Journal. June 2009: Lee Baty, Ken Holm, Bob Numrich and Theresa Otto were each named again by their peers as Missouri/Kansas “Super Lawyers” after a peer review survey to identify the top five-percent of lawyers in Missouri and Kansas. Todd Johnson, John Gates and Molly Westering were also named again as “Rising Stars” in Missouri and Kansas. June 2009: Todd Johnson obtained a directed verdict in a jury trial in federal court on behalf of a national retail client. April 2009: John Gates and Jaudon Godsey obtained a defense verdict in a personal injury case filed against an environmental services client in a jury trial in St. Louis. April 2009: Clay Fielder won a defense verdict on behalf of a fuel retailer in a case alleging property damage caused by contaminated fuel. April 2009: Lee Baty and John Gates obtained a favorable result in an arbitration in which a hospital sought damages in excess of $7,000,000 against our firm’s client in a construction defect claim. March 2009: Theresa Otto and Clay Fielder successfully argued before the Kansas Court of Appeals in a case involving insurance coverage. March 2009: Todd Johnson and Nick Porto obtained a judgment of $2,100,000 in a collective action for overtime compensation under the Fair Labor Standards Act. |
